Skeeter Swift passed away this past week at the age of 70. A flamboyant,high scoring guard out of East Tennessee State University, Swift was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 31st pick in the 1969 NBA draft but chose instead to play in the newly formed American Basketball Association.
Swift averaged 11.6 PPG over his five-year career playing for the New Orleans Buccaneers, Memphis Pros, Pittsburgh Condors, Dallas Chapparrals and the San Antoinio Spurs. A three time All Ohio Valley Conference Team member and 1968 Conference Player of the Year, Swift’s number was retired by East Tennessee State with his election to their Hall of Fame in 1982.
